Breathing Apparatus for Work Training Course

CONTENT :

US: 25044: Wear and operate compressed air breathing apparatus in the workplace (Level 3, 4 credits)

Key components of the training are to:

  • describe the safe operation of a compressed air breathing apparatus (CABA);

  • prepare, test, and recommission CABA equipment;

  • wear and monitor a CABA;

  • implement emergency procedures.

Training will comply with the requirements of the appropriate NZ and Australian standards as there is no code of practice for breathing apparatus use.

AS/NZS 1715:2009 Selection, use and maintenance of respiratory protective equipment; AS/NZ 1716:2012 Respiratory protective devices; and AS 2865:2009 Confined spaces.

All assessment will be carried out during the course.

DURATION :

1 Day

NUMBERS :

Minimum of 4 participants maximum of 8.

Refreshers :

To ensure that competency is retained we would suggest that staff attend 3 refreshers per year of 3-4 hours duration. The refreshers are practical and ensure staff remain familiar with the equipment and its protocols for use.

Location :

NZ Mines Rescue have training facilities available in Huntly and Rapahoe, with delivery available nationwide in the workplace or other suitable training venue.
